Yellow Hurt the Most
Written by Pia Wilson Directed by Nick Leavens: Nick is a director, producer and writer with a focus on new works. His directing credits include: NEW YORK: Lieutenant of Inishmore (assistant director, Broadway/off-Broadway), Research: a novel for performance (|theclaque|), Okay, No Bueno (Ensemble Studio Theatre), Wipe Away (Samuel French Off-Off-Broadway Festival), Meanwhile in Baghdad, Apocalypse: Book One (New York International Fringe Festival), Be True to Your School (At Hand Theatre), Speaking in Stomachs (SITEfest 2010) Family Bonding, Love Match, The Arab and the Restless (New York Arab-American Comedy Festival), Wishing Time (Vital Theater), DJ Jesus (The Funny) as well as countless readings. Nick was the Company Manager of Atlantic Theater Company from 2005-2007, Bay Street Theater in 2005, Pennsylvania Center Stage in 2003, Production Manager of Vital Theatre in 2004 and an Equity stage manager Off-Broadway. Theatre Co. with Michael J. Garces, Dir.; Puerto Rican Traveling Theatre with Jose Zayas, Dir.; HERE Arts Center-American Living Room Festival; 3Graces Theatre Co. REGIONAL: Shakespeare Theatre in DC in a year-long Acting fellowship; In the Heart of America by Naomi Wallace, at Rep Stage, which was nominated for a Outstanding Ensemble at the Helen Hayes Awards in 2009; Luna Stage in NJ. Currently, she is developing a solo performance piece called The Breakdown, with Tamilla Woodard, Dir. and an original play calledEl Viejo & His Beauty with veteran NY Actor, Jose Febus. As a writer, Dacyl’s original work has been featured in The Faith Project by Tamilla Woodard at Bowery Poetry Club; SOUL Latina by Latino Flavored Productions Inc.; andTrue Story Project: FAITH with Visible Theatre Co. She was a regular contributor to the writing group Hibernating Rattlesnakes, in association with NoPassport Theatre Alliance, hosted at the Nuyorican Poets’ Café. She earned a BFA in Acting at SUNY Purchase College. Jay Felix (Emile): hails from California where he received his BA in Theatre Arts from CSUF. His New York credits include works with the Oxford Shakespeare Company playing roles as King Duncan in Macbeth and Antonio in Much Ado About Nothing. He has also been the voice for a series of commercials for Kaplan University, and continues his voice over training at EDGE Studio. He lives in Bay Ridge with his lovely wife Vanessa and their mean cat Raisin. Love Letters to a Dictator Written by Stella Fawn Ragsdale: Stella is a writer and playwright, was born and raised in East Tennessee. Her most recent play Perish, part of a three-play trilogy inspired by her Appalachian heritage and classics background will be produced as part of the High Tide Festival in the UK. Her play Spring was produced by the Water Series Company in downtown Knoxville. Stella recently completed the Emerging Writers Program at The Public Theater and has an MFA in Dramatic Writing from NYU. In the summer she works on a farm. Directed by Johnson Henshaw: Johnson is a Brooklyn based performance facilitator. He has developed work with New Georges, NYTW, PS122, the Public and the Goodman Theater in Chicago. Most recently he finished shooting his first independent film, Pregnant and Dying. Currently he is working with Stew and Heidi Rodewald on their new musical, The Total Bent, which will premiere at the end of Feb at the Public Theater as well as being in pre-production for a new commissioned web series for Meredith Corporation. Maria Mocerino (Stella): Having recently returned from two years at the Ecole Internationale du Theatre de Jacques Lecoq in Paris, Maria Mocerino is thrilled to be a part of the tinyrhino festival. While abroad, she had the opportunity to devise pieces for the Louvre Museum, Camden Fringe Festival in London and the Edinburgh Fringe in Scotland. She holds a BFA in theatre as well as an BA in Art History from New York University. Sext Therapy Written by Don Nguyen: Don is a playwright, director and actor. Don was born in Saigon, Vietnam, grew up in Lincoln Nebraska, and currently resides in New York City. Don served as the Artistic Director of the Shelterbelt Theatre in Omaha from 1999-2003. Don’s full-length plays include Red Flamboyant (Ojai Playwrights Conference 2011, nomination – L. Arnold Weissberger Award 2011, finalist O’Neill National Playwrights Conference and Bay Area Playwrights Festival), Sound: A Sign Language Play, The Man From Saigon,and Three to Beam Up (The Shelterbelt Theatre, Nebraska Arts Grant recipient). His play The Harlequin Maneuvre was published in The Best of the Strawberry One-Act Festival and subsequently produced in New York and Canada. Don writes for The Living Newspaper and is a member of the New York Public Theater’s Inaugural Emerging Writers Group, The Civilians R&D Group, and Ma-Yi Writer’s Lab. He studied at the FSU School of Theater before moving to Brooklyn in 2005. Most recently, he has appeared inExecution of Justice (New School),Authenticating Eileen (Tin Lily), and The Diary of Anne Frankenstein (Theatre A L'Orange). He has performed regularly at the Peoples' Improv Theater, and has worked extensively with infamous alternative comedians, Murderfist. He used to own two fancy rats named Black & Decker, who's remains are buried somewhere in Coney Island. Ryan is currently a second-year MFA candidate at the New School for Drama. Charise Greene (Dr. Scott): is currently playing Joanna inInadmissible, directed by Sherri Eden Barber, at Canal Park Playhouse. Most recently, Charise played Jo in a staged reading ofCanary at New York Theatre Workshop, Sharon in Versailles at Emerging Artists, and the title role in Darleen and Trent through the Culture Project at the Living Theatre. She teaches acting at Barnard and Columbia (Chekhov, Advanced Acting, Audition Workshop and more) and is the resident voice and dialect coach for undergraduate productions at NYU’s Stella Adler Studio. She also coaches privately. Charise holds an MFA in Acting from the Brown University/Trinity Rep Program where she was a Stephen Sondheim Fellow, and she earned her undergraduate degrees in Theater and Political Science at UC Berkeley (www.charisegreene.com). Love, Confusion and Other Fun
Written by Aaron Wigdor Levy: Aaron's plays include This is Not a Time Bomb, The Ball Player, Hunky Dory, Reunion Tour, Townie, Over Here, Central Standard Time, and numerous short plays. His plays have been produced, read and developed at The Public Theater, The New Group, The Lark, The Cherry Lane Theatre, The American Theater Company in Chicago and The Source Theater Festival in Washington D.C. He was a member of the 2010-11 Emerging Writers Group at The Public Theater and was a member of the Royal Court Theatre’s New York Residency. He received his MFA from the Department of Dramatic Writing at NYU where he studied with David Ives and Mac Wellman. Originally from Chicago, he now lives in Brooklyn, NY. Danny Sharron (Director): UglyRhino directing credits include #nyc and Occupation by Kyle Warren, and Ionesco's Rhinoceros (UglyRhino). Other directing credits: Hard to Kill (Horse Trade), Dammit, Office Girl! (Subjective),Tape (Medicine Show), Sunday in the Park with George and Proof. He Assistant Directed Jeanine Tesori's American Songbook concert and was the Directing Assistant on the first US National Tour of Frost/Nixon. This is his second TinyRhino event, working before with Tracie Michelle Murphy. He is a big fan of the future, technology and collaboration. He is currently devising a new science fiction musical called All the Rats and Rags based on the music of Tim Fite and Oliver Twist. During her time in Chicago she was featured in a number of regional productions including a dual-role performance as Mama/Hannah in A Midnight Cry at the historic Auditorium Theatre and Richard III at Chicago Shakespeare Theater. Since moving to New York she has performed as Belle de Costa Green in Ventfort Hall’s production of Belle of the Books, a role which was remounted for both the Metropolitan Playhouse’s 2011 Harlem Renaissance Festival and the 50th anniversary of the Union College Library. She most recently performed in Fresh Ground Pepper’s All the Rats and Rags. Lee Kasper (Cosmo): was seen most recently in Ideal by Ayn Rand (59E59).
